Welcome to Pacific Christian School for the 2017-18 school year. As you know, technology is an ever changing constant in our world today. Therefore, in order to maintain an appropriately current yet secure educational environment for your child(ren), we will be initiating the following policies here at PCS:
- WiFi across the PCS campus is now only available to authorized devices. At this time, students will not be able to authorize personal devices.
- Students at the elementary/middle school campus will not be allowed personal devices during the school day (8:30 – 2:55). All personal devices will be collected by homeroom teachers.
- Students who have phones or other devices at school must not access them in class (or chapel) unless they have received permission to do so from the teacher. Students who use a phone in class or chapel without permission can expect to have it confiscated. A confiscated phone will be placed in a padded envelope and delivered to the office. The student may pick it up from the office at the end of the school day. If the same student’s phone is delivered to the office a second time, a parent will need to come in to pick it up. If there is a third incident, the administration will meet the student and parent(s) to discuss further steps.
Be assured that we will continue to pursue and foster uses of technology that build community and meaningfully enrich learning. We will monitor the impact of restricted WiFi on the learning environment and will make adjustments as appropriate.
