Business Manager

Pacific Christian School is seeking a Business Manager who reports to the Superintendent and works with the leadership and business teams as well as the Finance Committee and Treasurer to:

  • Assist in the establishing and monitoring of the school’s budget.
  • Oversee the school’s accounting systems.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for the Superintendent and Finance Committee.
  • Prepare various reports related to the school’s financial performance for the Ministry of Education and the Society of Christian Schools of British Columbia.
  • Prepare tax receipts and reports.
  • Monitor all insurance policies and other service contracts.
  • Assist in the administration of staff wages and benefits.

This is a full-time position and will commence in September 2022.

Spanish Teacher – Secondary School

Pacific Christian School is seeking a teacher to continue to build on a thriving secondary Spanish language program. This is a part-time position (approx. 0.45 FTE depending on course enrollments) anticipated to commence in September 2022. Full-time Educational Assistants (Secondary)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Learning Assistance or Inclusion Coordinator, Educational Assistants are responsible for the implementation of Individualized Education Plans for students, ages 12-19, who benefit from a variety of learning supports and strategies.

Specific tasks:

  • With support from the coordinators and the teachers, implement the strategies outlined in each student’s Individual Education Plan
  • Provide academic, social and emotional support for students in Grades 8-12
  • Support students one-to-one and in small groups in classrooms and other designated spaces.
  • Communicate regularly with all members of the student’s school-based team to promote an open, collaborative environment that best serves the student.
  • Participate in staff training/professional development activities, staff meetings, and conferences.
  • Adhere to prescribed documentation protocols for tracking daily tasks and student progress
  • Perform other tasks which may include reading or scribing for a student, providing one to one or small group support, assisting the teacher in the classroom, providing personal care and completing other necessary tasks to provide inclusion opportunities for all students.
  • Monday to Friday 8.00am – 3.30pm* (approximately)

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to support students effectively with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with adults and youth
  • Previous experience working in a learning environment with children and/or youth with learning challenges, ADHD, and mental health challenges
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Clean criminal record check and child welfare check

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The preferred candidate will have education about and experience working with teenagers in a learning environment.

Post-Secondary and Career Advisor

JOB DESCRIPTION

Pacific Christian School is seeking a person to fill the role of Post-Secondary and Career Advisor, commencing in the 2022/23 school year. If you love the idea of journeying with students – and their families – as they prepare to transition to post-secondary life, please read on.

The ideal candidate will:

  • be highly relational, a good listener, and skilled at putting young people at ease
  • be very organized and able to prioritize effectively
  • have a vibrant Christian faith and a desire to foster Christian faith formation in young people
  • have strong written communication skills
  • be an effective presenter to small and large groups
  • value diverse post-secondary pathways (academic, trades, volunteer, mission, etc.)

In this role, the successful applicant will be involved in the following:

  • meeting individually with all seniors (Gr 11 & 12) for course planning, credit review, and post-secondary planning support
  • equipping students to access transcripts and to release them to post-secondary institutions through the student transcript service
  • establishing consistent communication with senior students to keep them informed of key deadlines and of scholarship opportunities
  • supporting students in their search for post-secondary programs and in questions related to the application process
  • assisting students who wish to pursue a Secondary School Apprenticeship or Work Experience opportunity
  • overseeing the Career-Life and Capstone program (either directly, or by equipping and supporting other PCS staff)

While preference will be given to qualified applicants who possess BC Teacher Certification, we will also consider applications from individuals who demonstrate relevant experience and skills but are not certified teachers.

This is currently a 0.5 – 0.65 FTE position, depending on the applicant’s qualification to oversee the Career programs. It may be possible to combine this with teaching or other duties to create a full-time position.
