Spanish Teacher – p.t. – September 2021

Pacific Christian School invites applicants for the position of Spanish teacher. This is a continuing, part-time position (0.25 – 0.45 FTE depending on course enrollments) anticipated to commence in September 2021. Ideally, the teacher that we are seeking will:

  • current British Columbia teacher certification preferred; applicants with relevant other experience may be considered
  • have a vibrant Christian faith and a desire to foster Christian faith formation in young people.
  • desire to become an active, contributing, collaborative member of a professional learning community.
  • have demonstrated organizational and planning skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills with both adults and young people.
  • have experience in the following areas:
    o teaching Spanish language and culture in a high-school setting
    o employing teaching approaches that are responsive to 21st-century learning needs and best practices
    o integrating a Christian worldview in the teaching of modern languages

Learning Assistance Teacher – 0.6 FTE September 2021

Pacific Christian School invites applicants for the position of Learning Assistance Teacher for upper intermediate students. This is a continuing, part-time position to commence in September 2021. There may be an opportunity to increase the FTE with classroom teaching time or Learning Assistance Coordinator responsibilities.
The main responsibilities include:

  • working collaboratively with other Student Services staff members and classroom teachers
  • directly supporting students with various learning needs
  • supervising EA’s
  • developing and implementing IEP’s and Learning Support Plans

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A vibrant Christian faith and a desire to foster Christian faith formation in young people
  • Desire to become an active, contributing, collaborative member of a professional learning community
  • Organizational and planning skills, as well as strong written and verbal communication
  • Current (or eligible for) BC Teacher Certification
  • Successful classroom teaching
  • Experience teaching students with students learning needs
  • University course work in the following areas:
    •  Students with special needs
    • Assessment/testing theory and practice
    • Strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Additional course work in the following areas is recommended:
    • Collaborative consultation
    • Teaching students with specific needs (e.g., learning disabilities, behavioural and emotional needs)
    • Computer technology for the classroom

Administrative Assistant – Part-Time (0.6 – 1.0) System Support

Pacific Christian School invites applicants who are detail-oriented and self-directed for the position of Administrative Assistant for the elementary campus. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for a range of responsibilities, including some reception and administrative support to the Principal, Vice-Principal and teaching staff. The successful candidate will be collaborative, hard-working, positive, and warm.

Please note that the current assignment is .6 and Elementary School specific. Any increase would likely involve the applicant assuming some system level responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • A vibrant Christian faith and a desire to foster Christian faith formation in young people
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant software programs (Microsoft Office and Google Suite), including the ability to move data between programs
  • Knowledge in or ability to learn student information systems (i.e., MyEducation BC) as it relates to student demographics, attendance, scheduling, records management, etc.
  • Ability to plan, organize and establish procedures and prioritize responsibilities by using knowledge of typical school cycles to predict upcoming workloads and deadlines without supervision
  • Ability to perform diversified tasks without supervision and to work efficiently and expediently with a high level of accuracy
  • Office or secretarial experience, preferably in a school setting
  • English proficiency
